It reaffirms a grand view of a universe ruled by simple and elegant and symmetrical laws, (…) in which everything interesting, such as ourselves, is due to flaws or breaks in that symmetry.
I understand about 7% of today’s articles on the possible discovery of the Higgs boson at CERN but as a science enthusiast (and thinking human being), I’m reading through them excitedly, anyway. And I just thought the above quote from the New York Times article “Discovery of New Particle Could Redefine Physical World” was beautiful.
We are flaws in an otherwise perfect universe. Yes. YES.
